Assignment 30A - Final Reflection

2) I think of ll the assignments throughout this course, the one that I will remember the most is having to develop my own business venture and product. Being able to have the idea of taking something and growing it to its maximum potential through all these different media outlets gives the user the advantage to be able to get their message out in front of as many people as possible in order to try to gain as many customers as possible. Although there were some chllenging parts about this assignment and all the smaller parts that completed the entirity of it, I think having the skillset of being able to think from that perspective within a business is very important and can play a key role in most companies. The accomplishment I am most proud of accomplishing is the venture concept for this course. That was the assignment where I had to put all the pieces of the puzzle together in order to create a viable business plan.
3) I very much do see that I have grown a much more influential entrepreneurial mindset after taking this course. This course has helped me think of business and the way they operate in ways I could have never thought of before. Being able to interpret data based off a social media outlets settings database and take that to interpret your companies next move is something I had never thought of, but realize how crucial it can be in executing specific moves for companies.

4) One thing I would recommend for students that are going to take this course is to not fall behind on your class work. I would rarely every have an assignment that I would have to do on the actual due date because i gave myself that ample time ahead to complete it, and give it a proper revision. Staying ahead of your classwork will help alleviate the stress of having an assignment hanging over your head that needs to get done. One thing before fostering the entreprenural mindset is forsure to be open bout the process. There are a lot of things to learn and a lot of moving parts that happen within this attaining this mindset. Once it is all over an you have learned what you have, I guaruntee you will see yourself from a different perspective in the business world and see different ways to present yourself to businesses.

6 Personality Traits Make Running A Business Much More Successful

Assignment 29A - Venture Concept No. 2

1. Opportunity: The opportunity at hand currently in our current state of living. This health pandemic has had a majority of the world in lock down mode, trapped inside their houses looking for something to do. The service I would be providing would be an accessible online teaching / guiding service that would show people how to create graphics, animations, effects, short videos and films, etc. All at the comfort of logging into an app from any mobile or desktop device and start learning. The current state of being trapped inside has people itching to be doing something and some people would even urge to learn something new. I personally know, for example, people who are taking online language courses just to help pass time and so they can gain that advantage of being bilingual during their time of quarantine. Whatever skill it may be the user decides to want to pursue, this would be where my service comes into play and really gives them a viable source of attainable and learnable information on online graphic creating, image editing, animation creation, etc. I believe the current state of change that creates a leveled up opportunity for my company would have to be the state of emergency the world is in currently due tot he COVID-19 virus. I think having people inside, self-isolating away from others is one of the best things we collectively could have done to help prevent spread of this virus. It also gives the amplified opportunity to take advantage of everyone being home, on their mobile devices and computers looking for things to do. This would be where I would take the step of amplifying my online marketing presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. in order to gain as much customer reach as possible. Knowing this would be able to give us a very wide range of potential consumers and customers in this market. Since the service is applicable to people all around the world wanting to learn a specific skill within a industry, there is no need to change settings and edit things due to geographic and demographic differences. The only thing s user would need to be able to access my businesses online services would be a mobile phone/tablet or desktop/laptop, and LTE service or Wifi. Being able to provide all of the instruction and the full service all through being able to access these services through the touch of a button.

Innovation: The innovation or service I would be bringing to the market place would be an application or downloadable online service that aids consumers and users in learning how to create animations and digital graphics, edit videos, make short clips, etc. My service would be accessible to any user that has access to a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with regular service or Wifi. What it would do is give the users detailed instruction on the best methods to learn the ins and outs of editing software and design applications available on the market today. my services would be only the quickest and most effective ways to get things done within these applications to help my users learn how to create and animate on their own. This services will be offered with a 1 month free trial, giving consumers the opportunity to see if the services my application provide are something they would want to pursue. After that I would charge a small monthly fee of $15 a month for users which will give them access to all of the lessons and material provided. Another way I would be able to bring in money would be through the independent lessons and instructions the service provides for customers needing one on one assistance with an employee of mine. They would sit and help complete the task needed via video conference until the job is done. These will be small fees of $5 per 30 minutes of chatting. I believe these prices are fair due to the confidence I have in y employees in not having to take too long to help our customers and not needing to gouge our customers with over priced services.

Venture Concept: I think the accessibility of the services I would be providing to the customers would really be what sets my services apart and really gives the customers the ability to learn virtually anywhere. I think this would be the main reason customers would switch to my product is because they can be on the go anywhere traveling, maybe not during the current state of living, and pick up where they last left off. I think the competitors currently would have to be the software companies themselves and their instructional tutorials they offer in classes alongside their services. Yes those videos do help, but most of the information is unnecessary to actually executing animations and different kinds of edits. My services give customers the best and quickest way to get point A to turn into point B, and so on. If the role of packaging and price points were an issue, this business venture would be very difficult to execute. But since everything is virtual, there is no need for shipping products or distributing materials since everything in online at the click of a button and can be accessed through the application itself. Being an online service I think presents some challenges, but also alleviates a lot of hands on tasks that could be an issue in case things start to get hectic with business. I think being able to monitor user interface and consumer databases as the company owner and coordinator, this would be able to determine the need for backup help, new employees, new service features, etc. On regular depending on the average size of our user base, I would say for every 1,000 to 3,000 users I would have one employee and myself backing their issues and support during their use of the app. The roles of employees in this venture play the part of being there to aid customers if any issues or problems come up during their use of our service.

Three Minor Elements: The most important resource I believe would be the application itself. I do think there are other ways to share my information, but in order to make a business out of it, i think the most effective way to gain customers and exposure would to create a web based app that is applicable to customers virtually anywhere in the world. The thing i think would be hard for competitors to imitate would be the customer service my company provides and the knowledge and information gained in my service only.  I think what is next for the business venture is to find someone to help me develop this app. Although i do know the ins and outs of other services, actually creating an operating application is not in my strong suite. Luckily, I do have multiple friends who are in web development and have created applications before. In 5 years, I see myself still trying to grow this operation or eventually merge it with a larger company in order to attain a larger customer base and compare technology and analytics with a larger organization to help grow our current state of operation.

2. Due to the circumstances that occurred, I was unable to submit my project in on time in order to get some peer feedback regarding my business venture. Although I did not receive any class based feedback, One of the things I noticed while revising my parer was the amount of grammatical errors I found. One other thing I caught myself ding while reading my past business venture concept was that i was speaking in first person during some parts.

3. Not much to change in my business venture based off of class feedback since I did not receive any for this assignment. one thing I did change was the few moments I caught myself speaking in first person, and also the simple grammatical errors found within my post.

Assignment 28A - Your Exit Strategy

1) Identify the exit strategy you plan to make. Do you intend to sell your business in the next 5 years for a large return? Do you intend to stay with the business for several decades and retire? Do you intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to your children?
In order for me to be comfortable with selling my business in the next 5 years, I would have had to have a massive producer/teacher approach me about wanting to take over my services. I dont initially plan on selling my business, but in reality everything has a price tag. I would love to be able to watch this thing grow over time and see what all I can expand too and improve upon. Another thing I would really enjoy seeing is all the creative designs and things people have made through my services and with the help of my company. I would like to have the business stay in the family, but I would also not want to pressure my future children to feel obligated to have to take it over. I would want them to be able to chase their dreams and career goals if they were to want.

2) Why have you selected this particular exit strategy?
I think with this particular selling exit strategy, I would be leaving the company in someones hands who also knows a lot/more about the software being offered and taught through my services. Leaving the business in the hands of someone who shares the same passion as you is  something I would feel comfortable doing if the price is right. i would really enjoy to see the company grow, or even negotiate a partnership deal to be able to keep my foot in the loop. But if I believe the company would have better opportunity with another owner, I feel I should let it grow into what it is supposed to be or what it could be.

3) How do you think your exit strategy has influenced the other decisions you've made in your concept? For instance, has it influenced how you have identified an opportunity? Has it influenced your growth intentions or how you plan to acquire and use resources?
I do believe thinking of the exit strategy has changed some of my viewpoints on how I make decisions for my business. The opportunity of selling the business to another large influence in the computer graphics, digital editing market I think is a great call in order to gain the maximum amount exposure the business could get. I do not think this idea effects my growth intentions because i would still like to maximize the output of my business the best to my ability. Through my own output efforts, i predict this would gain the attention of a potential buyer in order to set me up for my planned exit strategy.

Assignment 27A - Reading Reflection No. 3

The bibliography I chose to read was Grinding It Out: The Making of McDonald’s, by Ray Kroc.

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The overall theme and feel of this bibliography is to give detail of all the hard work it took for Kroc to become a hard working and powerful business man which ultimately resulted him in being an owner for one of the largest fast food chains around the world. The way this bibliography explains the becoming of the McDonald's food chain with the first introduction of the McDonald brother and their small food operation and growing it into the size it stands too today.

2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
One of the main ways it connects with the course material and everything we have learned thus far is that it shows how Kroc was a diligent enough entrepreneur to get the job done with the McDonald's brothers and create the life and opportunity it has for him today. Having the details of how he grew up and pursued his business ventures helps tie into and give different outlooks on the venture concepts post we create for this course.

3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
One of the things I would like to examine with a classroom of students would be to interpret their ideal venture to success and what they would do to find success if they were to want to develop a food chain similar to McDonald's. I would then have the classmates compare their answers with one another in order to gain knowledge from one another and get other ideas for execution. I would them have them compare their strategies to the steps taken by Kroc in order to compare their strategies with a professional who has successfully completed this exercise in real life. This would give the students a more professional angle at how to look at their potential business decisions, and make changes if needed.

4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
I think my biggest aha moment in this book was realizing how hard Kroc was working to mainting and try and push one smaller business before buckling down and taking his business venture with McDonald's to a much larger scale. I think the thing I learned that was most valuable to me was if you have the determination, will power, and ability to get your foot in the door for ventures your passionate about, anything is possible. Kroc showed us this by coming from a entrepreneur who was selling blenders, to owning one of the largest fast food chains in the world today.

Assignment 26A - Celebrating Failure

1) During the time of this semester, at my job I was directed to upload images of the store, products, deliveries, and everything the store would be getting involved in on our Facebook and Instagram page. I would go outside and walk the 22 Acre lot of different plants, shrubs and trees and take what I thought were great pictures to make posts out of. I would do this maybe three to four times a week on top of all of all of the restocking and other things I was doing around the shop. Ultimately I was told by my boss that the months worth of pictures I had of all of the products in his shop were incorrect, and I needed to take new pictures. Another thing I had done wrong was file them incorrectly in the company files, so there were a few pictures of shrubs in the flower section, trees in the shrub section, etc.
2) What I learned from this was that I did not have the same vision for the companies social media posts as did my boss had envisioned. Another thing is that we do work well together, his hard work and the creativity and knowledge of the social media marketing skills I have developed really helps me deliver something that is useful to him. One thing I like to reflect on over my days of working there is learning that even when my boss may be wrong and you know it for a fact, he is still going to be right.
3) Failure to me is related along the lines, in my eyes, as not giving any effort for something you want. If you are trying to achieve a life goal, failures are the best way to help lead you into the right direction. Failures help you learn from what has happened before that shouldn't have, and wont next time that opportunity comes around.  Emotionally, I react to failure as a sort of constructive criticism teaching me not to do the same thing when it comes time to execute something again or to take a different approach to the way things should be properly done.

Assignment 25A - What's Next?

Existing Market.  Step 1:
For my business venture, the next step in our process would be to broaden our consumer and user range. I want to be able to grow this from a small local resource provided to student and people around the state, to people using the service around the world.

Step 2:
The first and second person i interviewed both had the same idea for my business venture and that was to expand my consumer range. Similar to my idea for what I had in mind for whats next for my company. The third person I interviewed had recommended I take steps towards trying to focus on how to set myself apart from competition.

Step 3:
I think the first step for my company would be to expand its organic search on social media outlets like Facebook and instagram to get out advertisements out in front of more people online. This would help get the knowledge of my product and service out into the air of the marketing world. After being able to expand the marketing outreach, we would then try to figure out how to effectively market our services better than our competition and how to grow in total consumer interaction.
This would then give us the edge over our competition to where we can start marketing and working efficiently. While at the same time trying to grow our reach of consumers until we have hot that worldwide scale. Once we have hit that worldwide scale, the products and services will be operating at full force in order to execute the needs of these customers all over the world.

New Market.
Step 1:
For the new market targeting, I think my company would want to go for the consumers looking for these services to gain information on. Our goal would be to hunt out those consumers who are engaging with materials that relate to teh services my company would provide, then be able to set them up for a free trial in attempt to gain their membership and trust.

Step 2:
I believe the best way to be able to create value within this specific market because it would tend tot he interest of these people who are already searching related items, but also give them the opportunity to explore our resources and determine if they want to take that extra step with a membership. Being able to have that option of exploring options for something that is very much worth investing if your already interested in this field of work or design.

Step 3:
The first person I interviewed to try and gain their knowledge and thoughts on the services being marketed into this consumer base was all positive feedback. He mentioned that he would immediately click and expore what we had to offer in terms of services and informational guides into the materials revolving around these subjects. He also really enjoyed the aspect of the application being able to function and work from anywhere that had regular service or wifi.

Step 4:
One of the things I learned about this new market was that people and consumers for sure think differently that the businesses that are trying to tend to them. The way a consumer thinks could be very important to a business when deciding what marketing strategies to take and post to consumers in attempt to gain interaction and clicks per post.
Looking at the marketing strategies from the consumer point of view will give the companies the idea of whether or not this strategy is worth it or not. What we learned was that people within this sub-market would love to see the market strategies provided by my company in order for them to be able to browse through the services we provide.

Assignment 23A - Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

Some of the items and skills that make the list for notable resources in my companies venture. Some of them include:
  1. My knowledgeable background in the programs I will be offering these informational guides on.
  2. Being able to remotely activate the service and train and use it from anywhere that has connection to wifi / LTE / 5G.
  3. The variety of information gained from my service.
  4. The user friendly platform that suites all experience levels.
  5. The ability to go back and re-learn material to sharpen up on a specific trait.
  6. The support I would get and attention gained from traveling to as many shows and festivals as I do, the exposure for the program would really help the overall marketing outreach.
  7. Being backed by industry professionals that can step in and help whenever needed.
  8. By offering the free tutorial version for 90 days, then charging a monthly fee would really give users and potential consumers the opportunity to recognize if it is the right service for the specific person.
  9. Being able to cancel your membership whenever the user feels comfortable enough to take on their creative ventures on their own, or to cancel whenever they feel the need to.
  10. The personable staff behind the program that is always there to help users gain the knowledge their looking for.
VRIN
  1. I wouldn't consider my skill set rare, but one thing that makes my services unique is the vast variety of knowledge available to learn and implement into a large number of different applications.
  2.  This valueable for people who are always traveling or even those who like to pick different parts of the house to work around.
  3. The varity of information make this service valuable to a large variety of users.
  4. I believe the valuable part about having such a user friendly platform is for giving the user the simplest way to get their tasks done.
  5. This feature is a non sustainable asset as this cn be found and features in many other programs.
  6. Having that exposure could be very crucial in gaining the attention of those who relate to me in a consumer based relationship.
  7. This could be very valuable to users as having multiple viewpoints on a subject could help give alternative ideas to the users.
  8. This could be inimitable and also valuable to the company because our consumers would be able to tell from the start whether or not the program suits their needs.
  9. This is very non-sustainable due to the fact that most companies and services that require memberships of some sort allow any-time cancelations.
  10. This is the rarest part of the company because the staff working here at my company is one of a kind and always ready to help you succeed.
I believe the 10th resource comes out to be one of the most important due to the fact that our staff is one of one who specifically works at trying to help the user gain the knowledge their looking for. Having that mindset when working with the application gives the users the sense of being in good hands and being able to get the information they need.

Assignment 22A - Elevator Pitch No. 3

https://youtu.be/rqzBucxn7CA

Assignment 21A - Reading Reflection No. 2

I decided to read the book How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams.

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The general theme of this book tended to revolve around the idea of going against the grain and your natural instincts, and to see success and the good things in life at a different angle to create a different perspective on those things. One thing that Scott highlights in his writing is that there is always a less stressful way to success and how to learn from past mistakes and failure to overcome those adversities.
2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT3003?
One of the main ways I was able to connect this book to this course is how there are many things to know in order to take those steps as an entrepreneur towards becoming successful. Knowing these things and having the best perspective on how to execute them is a great way to tie in with some theories Scott related to materials being taught in the course.
3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
I think a great exercise for this course would be to get students to identify their ideal perception of what the word "success" or "being successful" means to them. I would have them answer questions on topics such as where would you live, what you do for work, family or not, business opportunities, etc. For a second part of the assignment, I would ask them for an alternative idea on how to attain all of that "success" they had described in the previous part. Challenge them to think of unusual ways to get to their goals and potentially encourage a different thoughts and perceptions.

4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
One of the big aha moments for me was realizing how many loses Scott had to take before eventually hitting it big. Along the way, he had mentioned some things that helped him grow to the person he was today and the figure he poses to be in the business world. He said being selfish or selfishness is an important character trait in ways that helped you get your ways in order to foresee your goals.

Assignment 20A - Growing Your Social Capital

1. One person I immediately thought of to get some feedback for this assignment is a great friend of mine who essentially got me into wanting to develop my ideas digitally and creating images and edits of different videos, clips, etc. His name is Jack Harrington, he currently works as a website programmer and sound engineer for larger corporate firms around Florida. Jack sets up websites and other apps through code and sells his algorithms to companies, if not previously hired for that specific coding  job. I would categorize Jack in the Expert field in the industry because he has truly learned how to do it all. He started with digital animations back when he was in high school, then immediately got into coding and writing code before he even graduated high school. This steered him in the direction of developing websites and code for larger companies, as well as gave him the opportunity to express his love for creating music and sound design. Jack is a good friend of mine, we met in high school and instantly shared our passion for music with each other and have been close ever since. Including Jack in my business process will help me have a better sense of direction and steps to take when going through this process.

2. Another person I chose to pick for this topic would have to be my mother, Kelly Gonzalez. For the past couple of years, she has been working as team manager for a multitude of high school teams at St. Thomas Aquinas, where she organizes all of the events and game schedules that happen throughout the seasons. Another thing she has taken control over is social media for the teams. I would consider her under the expert in the market since she has such a great knowledge of how to reach people through these social applications. For this she simply makes posts regarding updates on games, final scores, future games, etc. Being knowledgeable of how to target crowds on these platforms is a reason why I chose to interview her and get some insight on how to target these different crowds for different teams and events. Having the knowledge of how to target that extra bit of potential consumers when taking my companies marketing to social media could be very beneficial and crucial in making sure I am executing it correctly and to the best of my ability.

3. Another person I would want to communicate with would have to be people of industries that rely on these types of services for their marketing campaigns. The first person I thought of was my older brother who currently works as a boat/yacht salesman. When a new boat comes into the lot and needs to be sold, the first thing they do is take to Instagram, Facebook, etc and post about the new product that is available. Having someone who knows how to attract customers in on a product could be very beneficial to have on a team when trying to market the service I would be providing. Also having his connections to those people who are needing the better knowledge of how to edit videos and other photos could be extremely beneficial to those who are constantly turning to social media for their marketing needs. I would classify Luke, my brother, as an important supplier to this industry because he could be very beneficial to getting me in front of those potential consumers who would be needing or could benefit from my services.

Being able to take a few bits and characteristics from each person I mentioned above would help me gain that much bit of reach when needing to have knowledge on these specific fields. This would also prove beneficial to those who need my services and can only reach through my online marketing attempts. I believe it did differ from my experiences in the past because it gave me more knowledge of how to think of people within these fields and use their information for your own services.

Assignment 19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
  - My name is Rhett Gonzalez. There are many things I find myself passionate towards in which I think I could turn into a profitable business that could help and benefit others. I tend to fin myself constantly creating a variety of different things such as music, video edits, digital art, etc. which I think could be of interest for a large group of consumers who are wanting to get into digital art and illustrations. I would love to be able to give my knowledge to those who are wanting to develop this type of knowledge and gain this ability to create and develop ideas of their own.

2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
 - The service i would be offering to consumers would be a training course or sessions to learn these skills in digital animations, editing, illustration, etc. to people who are wanting to learn how to develop and sharpen their online animation and editing skills. The skill-set range could vary from beginners all the way to people who have a great deal of knowledge on the subject.

3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psycho-graphic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
 - One thing i would be offering is a service that could be accessed anywhere, anytime. Being able to work on this at the consumers desired convenience is a huge thing that I believe would give the customers the feeling of being able to learn at their iwn pace, and also not feel pressured to use the service at a specific time of day, for said hours, etc.

4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
 - I believe those that would care would be those consumers who want to learn that skill of being able to take ideas and create them in a digital aspect and potentially use that design for something in the future. Being able to know how to execute something you would want to create in a program is a great feeling. Executing a design just as you imagined it being in your head instantly makes you more anxious to keep creating whatever it is that the designer creates.

5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
 - Being able to identify myself as a highly skilled digital designer would set me apart from other companies that are trying to provide services similar to my business idea. Being able to provide someone the most detailed and effective insight on how to develop their idea is something that will benefit the consumer in the long run.

Assignment 18A - Create a Customer Avatar

I believe my typical "avatar" for a person who would want to be using my services would be someone in the age range of younger to mid 20s to anywhere as old as someone in their 60s. I think all of the customers who would use my services would all share a passion for music and creative sound, as well as being into the aspects behind putting on large shows and productions for music events. I think mainly, they are streaming videos and music from their favorite artists and bands as well as the sounds that relate to that music. They could or could not have children depending on their age or social status maybe. I would think if someone had a child that they would want to share that passion for finding and sharing music.

Assignment 15A - Figuring out Buyer Behavior No. 2

1) Find three people who would fit that segment and arrange to interview them.
3) Begin with alternative evaluation.
- When interviewing my girlfriend on this topic, she really had to think about this process because of how many times a day she finds herself randomly shopping online. She will catch herself laying in bed, scrolling through different websites just gazing through different styles of clothes, clearance or not, and ultimately buy a few tings at a time. Her thought process when determining to purchase an item is definitely the price. To determine if the price is accurate and worth the item its listed for, the quality of the product, brand name, retail store or seller reputation or name, etc. When interviewing my co-worker, he made it known that he only does shopping when he desperately needs something new and will always look for the stuff on sale or clearance. His thought process of price is very important in his decision making, and will also tie in his specific style and ultimately the quality of the product will come into play. My mother really enjoys to purchase things she wants, especially if it is on clearance. So ultimately her process is if it is at a sale price or discounted, she will feel more inclined to think about purchasing more.
4) How/where do they buy?
- My girlfriend is more of an online shopper. She has her specific websites that have most of the stuff that aligns with her style of choice. She sometimes uses her credit card for purchases she wants to be able to pay off, but primarily uses the money she earns from her full time job. My mother has recently turned into a large online shopper, but used to be a more prominent in store shopper. She used to use brand credit cards which gave her some credit back from each purchase, but now I believe she uses her earned money from her full time position as well. My coworker primarily is an in store shopper who uses cash when he can, but also has a well earned savings account.
5) Post-purchase evaluation.
- The most important thing when determining if a purchase is a "good purchase" is determining if the product or service purchased benefited you in any way, big or small. Not only if the item or service purchased benefited you, but also if it does you some good deed or helpful service. There have been times where my girlfriend has made purchases and about 3 minutes after purchasing said items had immediately regretted that purchase. I know that for my mother, when she makes purchases and is not satisfied with the item or service she will ty to return it and get her money back.
6) Report the findings
- All of my interviews were in ways the same and also very different from each other. The first person interviewed had a much different thought process when purchasing things. But her thought process of determining the worth of the value for the product ultimately aligned with that of my mother and coworker. Determining if the service and good did a certain justice for the purchaser was the ultimate underlying factor to determine if it was worth the purchase or not.
7) Draw conclusions.
- I think this segment falls into the purchase decision and post purchase evaluation due to the fact that you are simply thinking back on the purchase you had just made and evaluating whether it was a good decision or not.

Assignment 14A - Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
  • One of the many things I have done when trying my best to keep up with course requirements is to lay out a schedule plan of execution. Working a full time job and trying to balance a full time online school schedule can be challenging at times, but as long as I have those specific times where I dedicate myself to school work, i am able to keep up with (most) of the materials and assignments in this class.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
  • There have been many times where I come across assignment, sometimes when it is on the day of the due date, I have the thought of just not doing the assignment and not stressing myself out to beat a timeline. There are other times when your just not in the mood to look at your computer or schoolwork and decide to give up. For me, being able to get something started is the bet way to get through that though of giving up and not wanting to complete the assignment. I am able to tell myself that once I have something on paper, I am then more persuaded to finish the assignment rather than leave it unfinished.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?

  • Three tips for students needing to be able to develop the skills that support tenacity would be to be more confident in yourself when taking on an assigned task.  Having a negative mindset about an assignment before even starting it is a great way to dig yourself into a deeper mindset of not wanting to complete a task. Another skill I would offer up is learn how to plan your time
according to your schedule. make sure you give yourself more than enough time to complete assignments, that way your not rushing to finish an assignment and risk messing something up. Last tip I would give to future students would to be interactive and vocal with your classmates. You never know if someone in the same course as you is going through the same problems or has the same questions as you and is willing to want to work with you to discover the problem. Assignment 13A - Reading Reflection No. 1

1) You read about an entrepreneur: Elon Musk
  • What surprised you the most?
    • I was suprised the most at how early Elon fell in love and developed his own passion for computers. At a very young age, his mind started flooding with ideas and inventions that he would want to develop. This surprised my because as such a young boy, he was already having this incredible forward thinking ability about inventing things and his passion for computers and technologies.
  • What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?
    • I admire his passion for computers and being able to be so dedicated to something that he taught himself how to write code, selling his own created software at just the age of 12.
  • What about the entrepreneur did you least admire?
    • The part I least liked about Elon is the fact he was bullied in his earlier years of grade school before he had hit a growth spurt. He then learned karate to be able to defend himself.
  • Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it?
    • Elon faced a time in his life where he had to move from south Africa to Canada in order to avoid mandatory service in the south African military services. This then granted Elon Canadian citizenship, which he imagined would make it easier to then gain citizenship in America.
2) What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur exhibited? `
-  He was able to build, code, and sell his own software at just the age of 12. The program was a video game named Blastar. When Musk got out of college, he decided to try for a PhD at Stanford University. He dropped out after just two days of being enrolled to join the internet boom that was just starting up around 1995.
3) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
 - The only thing that was confusing to me when they were describing the way he was raised after his grade school age to his college age. I feel they lacked on informatioin on his life during this time and could have used some information since this is a crucial time in any young developing entrepreneur's life.
4) If you were able to ask two questions to the entrepreneur, what would you ask? Why?
- I would want to know what inspires his idea to develop these new companies and technologies and how he actually executes them. i would love to know how many people he has involved in his development team, or if everything he makes truly is based off of his own ideas and he executes them mainly himself.
5) For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?
- I think Elon's opinion of fun is being able to create something that other people can seek pleasure with. After reading this bibliography, I would imagine he would rather invent something useful for people around the globe than take a unneeded vacation for himself. Having that sense of creating something successful, I think, gives Elon the most pleasure.

Assignment 12A - Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

1) Pick a segment. I am going to mainly focus my interviews to those who are constantly shopping for new clothes to wear in public, or to wear to work.
2) Find three people who would fit that segment and arrange to interview them.
  • Need awareness: When shopping or searching for clothes online, her thought process starts with if the outfit or article of clothing looking to be purchased is her style. If it is something that she can see herself in, she will then try it on to see if it will work for her. After this she then determines her decision off of the price of the item, making or braking the sale.
  • Information Search: Having the choice of being able to pick items in a store and determine if it is something the buyer really wants makes me want to know more about how she discovers these items, stores, brands. Knowing which brands and items she was more into would help companies be able to identify different customer needs and desires, which could ultimately be incorporated into their future business models.
  • Need awareness: My co-worker believes in being comfortable while on the clock. He has a much different approach when going through the thought process of shopping for clothes for casual wear, work, etc. His process begins with the thought of needing something new when it comes to his usual attire. When deciding what kind of shirt to buy, he says he checks which of his current shirts looks beat u, and could use a replacement. He then decides which articles of clothing to search for then purchase if the price is right. He also said luckily his wife does a lot of the shopping for him.
  • Information search: One thing that separates my first interview from this one is the thought process where my first interviewee goes out to shop for enjoyment and will possibly purchase something if it is something that sparks her interest. Whereas my co-worker goes out shopping mainly if he needs something new, or if he gets lucky and his wife brings him home something new.
  • Need awareness: The third person I interviewed is very into the hobby of buying, trading and reselling name-brand, designer clothes to others who are into that type of hobby. His thought process of buying clothes "on-drop" is completely different than my past two interviewee. His thought process of buying clothes is tat he could always sell it for what he payed, potentially even more. He doesn't necessarily need to like an item to buy it and for it to hold a value. Due to the fact that there is very likely someone out there who will pay the same price for this piece.
  • Information search: This thought process could be dangerous in the sense that someday there might not be a re-sell market available and you are then stuck with all these items you purchased just to resell. Unlike the other stores my past interviewee shop from, these online stores have no refund policies, so you either have to buy it to either keep, to resell, or not buy and save the money for the next drop.

5) Report the findings of your research. I learned that thought process is different in everyone when it comes to buying these types of clothes, for work or for pleasure. I think that being able to depict these thought process for those I interviewed will really help them be able to step back and think about their purchasing habits. Being able to actually think about your thoughts in the process of your spending habits helped myself be more weary when spending on things that could go unused, or stuff that is not necessary to my success.
6) Draw conclusions. One of the many things I took away from this experience was being able to acknowledge the steps tat occur when deciding on buying something. Having this knowledge of what you thinking about in your head while its all happening will definitely help me to be able to make smarter spending choices.

Assignment 11A - Idea Napkin No. 1

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
  •  My name is Rhett Gonzalez. I am a passionate creator of a variety of things. I work full time as a market operator creating social media posts for the company I am employed by. When I am off the clock, I tend to find myself at home developing my own designs that I always think would potentially end up on some clothing or could represent a brand or label of some sort. My aspiration for the design company I want to develop would be something that many people could benefit from and eventually become their own bosses and run their own operations. I would want this to be more of a job where you learn the basics of how to create professional designs and how to market yourself properly. Another thing I would want this company to help with would be how to expand customer reach, and get your business or your designs noticed by potential customers wherever the creator desires.
2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
  • The service I am wanting to offer to customers is the chance to be able to learn how to develop professional logos, digital animations, 3D graphics, etc. and market themselves as creators to people needing these types of services. I want to be able to have a person with minimal experience in the graphic design genre and teach them how to professionally create something that could be used by a customer for a feature in a video, a new company logo, clothing designs, or whatever they desire to pursue with their creations. That way, I am turning a customer into a business man/woman and also supplying them with skills to be able to operate on their own as an independent business.
3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
  •  One thing I would want to be able to ensure that this service is accessible from anywhere. meaning that if your not sitting in your office working on a project, you will easily be able to work on your task on the go wherever you may be. One thing I think that could benefit the most amount of people who are seeking this service would be the viable information they have access to whenever they need it. being able to log online and research or work on a project would be the most convenient thing for a customer to be able to do.
4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
  •  I think this service could be a huge help to those who are wanting to become serious about their online presence as a graphic designer, graphic editor, online marketer, etc. due to the services my company would provide. Wanting to be able to advance as a creator and see other people needing your services will drive those who choose to part take with my company want to be able to understand everything there is to know about my business to be able to effectively help customers.
5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
  • One thing I think that sets my company aside from other design companies would be my experience within the fields I will be providing services for.  Being able to give someone the best insight for being able to take an image and mass produce products with that image, or being able to design a professional logo for a company across the nation to use for their official logo will give them the motivation to do more and go beyond just simple designs. I personally know from experience, having the confidence of knowing a company like your work and wants them to develop their professional logo gave me the courage to go beyond a logo and start designing clothing with custom designs I develop from ideas I have in my head.

I believe these elements to my company would make it fit well and easy to understand whats being offered to those who are interested in my services. I think that being able to depict these different concepts helps give me a better understanding of what to focus on more than what is not so needed in this process. I think anyone seeking any sort of aid in digital design would benefit greatly from the services my company would provide and I would love nothing more than to see others benefit off of the information and services I was able to provide for them.

Assignment 8A - Solving The Problem

I believe a solution to the problem of trying to develop a digital graphics company would have to be all of the new and already existing companies. Although these companies could be good to learn from, I believe the hardest part would be to try and compete with a company who is already in full function, rather than a company just being developed and starting from square one. One thing I would want to integrate early on is a settle and planned out form of electronic marketing to be able to get out brand and products across the web in the most effective way by activating search filters. These filters could help direct consumers in our direction for their desired services, which then could produce customers and loyalties from people who have done business with my company before. I think the solution for wanting to effectively market my brand across various forms of media would be to implement traditional and electronic marketing strategies, that way we get the maximum amount of exposure possible through everything from print advertisements, to banner advertisements across the top of websites. I would use these theories to develop a advertisement that supplies information on all for all of the services my company can provide. I would want to make known our screen printing abilities, our web development abilities, logo development, clothing and different kinds of apparel are available also, the list goes on. Having this effective form of marketing would surely give my company the exposure needed to be able to gain some sort of consumer trust and loyalty.

Assignment 7A - Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

1. An opportunity that I would like to pursue would be to develop my own design company. In this company I would want to be able to develop all different types of things that people need help designing and bringing to life.

2. I would develop this company for the large majority of people needing help designing random things such as logos, websites, clothing, etc. The who for this opportunity would be mainly directed at people around my age also to who share some similar interest with me. This would be important for my company to be able to make sure it does well when it makes certain product releases due to making sure your customer reach is for the right crowd. The why would have to be to ensure the products are catering to a specific crowd and can at least potentially make growth and expand to a larger group of clients.

3. I feel there are currently other companies out there that are pushing this similar idea to what I am thinking of. The difference with my idea is I wouldnt be strictly making design to go on shirts, or hoodies. I would want to have everything from clothing, to housing materials, tools, automobiles, etc be relating to my design company. Some potential boundaries would be how comapnies would like having my design or my commpany integrated within their product.

4. After interviewing my roommate who currently runs his own graphic design company, I wanted to pick his brain on how he started to branch out and grow his company. He was big on his emphasis at how hard he pushed his electronic media marketing and how that helped him reach customers all the way in south America. The way he was describing his success after he started to implement more time into online marketing and expanding his search demographics, it helped him start making business with people all across the nation and even other countries.

Assignment 6A - Identifying Opporunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

1. There are many potential opportunities for both economic trends and those relating to regulatory changes too. One opportunity relating to economic trends within businesses and media is the radius or demographics of how they're trying to expand to new customers within a certain area. This could be beneficial for businesses in congested areas to be able to maximize potential reach and also be able to analyze consumer interaction rates within the desired demographic. Another opportunity for companies would also be the idea of using big data, provided by other corporations based on consumer data, to determine the most effective form of marketing to the specific crowd. Trends changing in the media are making regulatory changes also more common. Most companies are turning their products into smart products for the purpose of being able to effortlessly control devices from all over a certain area. This is almost the same as having little robots or automated devices doing chores for you, like the little iRobot vacuum.

2. - Expanding demographics for marketing and data analysis. I discovered an article on US Economic Trends describing a few different trends that relay from company to company when marketing specific data. I believe this is best looked at by how companies begin their attempt at trying to gain a larger customer base by expanding their marketing demographics and ensuring themselves that their advertisements will be put in front of more faces. I believe this tsk is super easy and extremely effective for companies that are serious about upgrading their marketing to become a more efficient tool for advertising and gaining customer outreach.
- Using big data to target crowds. I found this in the same article as the one I had mentioned above. I believe that this is somewhat wrong due to the fact the companies are sort of spying on their potential customers in order to discover a way to advertise to them. I think for companies to do this, they should be at least marketing something the customer would benefit from or find convenient. I think this opportunity may be a little more difficult to achieve because you have to discover this information from a bigger organization who holds the informatino for the consumers your trying to get information on.
-Smart products. I discovered this opportunity a few years ago when my friend had first got his Smarthome system installed in his house. He is able to change the temperature to his A/C, turn the front porch lights on, and even turn on his shower all through an application on his phone. I believe the customer at opportunity for smart products are the people who want to be involved with the newest trends and the latest gadgets.
-AI and robotic devices. This opportunity idea came to me as soon as I discovered an advertisement for the iRobot vacuum cleaner. This little thing portrayed the idea that you will never have to sweep your floor again. This will clean up your floor, detects where it needs to go and what needs to be cleaned, and at the same time not run into anything! I believe this idea would come easy to those who have background in engineering and programming to be able to pull off the abilities that go into making a robot vacuum detect things that needed cleaning all while avoiding running into anything.

3. I believe when it comes to looking at each one of these opportunities and assuming that there is no one in the entire world who could have the same exact idea for an opportunity as you. One thing I learned is that everyone may not have the same opinion or thoughts towards something, which causes people to think differently. The idea of creating larger search demographics for world would have been thought of already if the first person had'nt thought of it. I believe this because the idea is too beneficial for companies large and small to not think of and realize how great of a tool it would be to their business. I imagine the idea behind using big data to target specific customers would have been thought of by another person also. I think this because a larger corporation with consumer information I feel knows the importance of knowing what the consumer is wanting in a product or service. Also tying in with the smart products and the AI and smart devices. I think knowing that the customer wants the easiest way to be able to monitor multiple things at the same time would be the idea that brings this service to life and into thousands of homes around the world.

Assignment 3A - My Entrepreneurship Story

I have two examples of recent entrepreneurship stories that occurred relatively recently in my life. The first instance of seeing myself as an entrepreneur was when I was brought into my new full time job. I am currently working as a marketing supervisor for my company. My role, along with many other smaller tasks, is to maintain a clean and good image online for our company across various forms of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Constant Contact, PlantSearch, etc. I was initial given the role of developing a new and updated website for the company, but that project was passed onto proper IT companies so we can have it ready for customer interaction quicker than if I were to compile the website on my own. What they have had me do is develop a new Facebook page for the company in which I post weekly post that inform people on a multitude of things ranging from deals, to new products we have available, even to random weather updates and pictures of our materials on lot.

I enrolled into this course because it seemed interesting to be able to learn about the roll of entrepreneur and what they do to be able to become successful and also to become a crucial part of how businesses operate and develop into larger functioning businesses. Also enrolled in this course because it was referred to me by my adviser.

Assignment 2A - Bug List

1. During rush hour traffic after clocking out of work, the people who think they own the road and change lanes without using their blinker, in congested traffic, bug me.
This exists because there are always going to be those people who think they deserve to get to their desired location faster than you, which results in them switching lanes aggressively with no regard of using their blinker.
2. Another thing that bugs me is when people in traffic always have to be in the lane that is moving fastest, which leads to them changing lanes repeatedly.
Why this exists is a great question. I think it has to do with the answer above, how these people think they deserve to be at their desired location before you can get to your end destination. These people need to learn that they are the ones causing traffic jams because they keep making other cars have to stop or move out of this persons way.
3. Something else that bugs me is when some of my coworkers try to push their work onto me, giving me even more work than I already have to do.
This exists because there are days where people are getting lazy, or want to clock out and go home. I get that, but your work is your work. If everyone to do their work how they are supposed too, we would all be going home at the right time knowing we each did our job well.
4. Another pet peeve of mine is people who chew their food with their mouths open. Close your mouth so the rest of us don't have to watch you enjoy that food so we can enjoy our own.
Why this exists I have no idea. I would imagine that everyone at one point in their life had someone teach them to chew with your mouth closed and to use some sort of table manners, but it seems people who like to "smack" their food let that lesson soar right over their heads.
5. One other thing relating to eating that really bugs me is people smacking their food and creating these disgusting noises when chewing and ingesting their foods. Your not an animal, have some manners and respect for others around you.
Following up with my previous "bug", when people chew with their mouths open, they are unnoticeably resembling themselves like an animal. Since animals chew with their mouths open and smack their food, comparing these people to animals may help them learn some manners and to chew with their mouth closed.
6. At large concerts and shows, one thing that bugs me has to be when a group of 10 or more people make their way slowly in front of you, then their friend follows behind them, and so on, and so on...
I like to call this a "train" because it is simply a train of people making their way from one spot in the venue to another, all while simultaneously staying in formation and disturbing the people they are walking over.
7. One thing that bugs me at work is when customers come into my office and start demanding stuff from me, when all I am supposed to do is control the online presences of the company.
This is only a problem when the company I work for gets really busy during peak hours of the day. Sometimes customers will find themselves getting eager to get what they need and end up pressuring me to do things I do not know how to do.
8. One thing that bugs me is when I go to make coffee in the morning, my brother decides to leave the coffee maker dirty and still on the stove.
This happens because my brother has some lazy tendencies in the mornings and towards nighttime, but this is normal for his as he tends to leave things in places he thinks is okay, but is not.
9. Something that bugs me at work is when my manager gets mad at me for things that are way out of my control. Such as making an order on a product from a company that he had listen next to the product in the order list, and the package finally arriving with the wrong amount of products, or even the wrong products itself.
This would not happen if my manager had given me the proper information to order a specific product from a specific distributor. If I was provided the correct information, the anger shown towards me for my mistakes would have never been shown since I would have made the correct order on a product from the correct distributor.
10. One other thing that bugs me is how much pain I am in throughout the day from sitting in this uncomfortable chair all day, 5 days a week. My lower back has never had such a big knot, and for some reason my tailbone has even began to start bothering me also.
Honestly, I do not know why this pain has surfaced. I try to practice good posture and to stand up every once and while to stand and stretch my back out to alleviate some pain. might have to do with my ever-longing back pains I've had throughout my life and now that I find myself sitting for almost 7-8 hours a day, this could be the reason for these pains.
11. Something else that bugs me that I encounter everyday are mean people. If you would just try to live your life working to put smiles on peoples faces, I believe you would lead a happier life and potentially brighten other peoples day instead of degrading them.
I believe there are mean people in this world because of how these people have been treated in the past or maybe had something happen that has made them lead a mean life. But it is a happy persons job to be able to try and pick that person back up and try to put a smile on their face.
12. One other thing that also bother me is when people are talking during concerts. You are there to listen to music, not talk obnoxiously over others who are trying to enjoy the performance.
I believe this is happening because maybe the specific people who are talking have not seen each other in a while and are catching up. But a concert that people pay money and travel across the country to see should not be a place to hold a full conversation. Save it for after the show.
13. Same goes for people who talk during movies. The people who talk during movies are obviously not there for the movie and should be more considerate of the people who are there for the movie.
I've never understood these kinds of people. Why they feel the need to say something right then and there during a movie, unless its urgent, simply disrupts people from getting the movie experience they payed for.
14. One thing that bugs me also is when people come into my office, close the door behind you. When people leave the door open in my office after walking in bugs me because 1. your letting the A/C out of the room 2. your letting all the noise from the machines outside into my quiet environment
I have always known that when you ope a door, you close it behind you or behind whoever walks in after you. Leaving the door opens lets the AC travel outside, which wastes it and cost money. Another thing is they are letting bug and mosquito have a chance to get into our workspace. lastly they let all of the noises and power tool noises seep into our quiet office.
15. Another thing that bugs me is when I order pizza from somewhere and it is not cooked enough. I know this is minor, but its really hard for me to appreciate a pizza that is under cooked.
I know this is a personal preference, but this bugs me because it is simply hard to hold a floppy piece of pizza. If the pizza does not have a cooked crust, it is simply a slimey mess and is not pleasent to eat in my opinion. Only reason this happens is because the cook does not cook the food long enough.
16. One thing I am not a fan of eating is cold, blocks of any kind of cheese. I do not enjoy eating that cold chunks of cheese and it bugs me whenever people are so shocked to hear that fact, because it immediately turns into a "Why don't you like cheese?"
The question that arises whenever this topic is brought up always seem to amaze me. "How do you not like cheese?" My answer is always "I just don't like cold block cheese." Whats strange is that I eat pizza almost 4 or 5 days a week, but can not even try to eat a cold block of cheese.
17. Another thing that bugs me in traffic is when people don't think to look in their mirrors and simply flip the blinker on and think they will always be let into the lane their trying to cross into.
This happens because there are always going to be those people on the roads that have no consideration for those around them and think they can go wherever they want whenever they want.
18. One thing that also bugs me, is since I am constantly filling my truck up with gas; when people at a gas station are parked in front of a gas pump not getting gas. Why even bother taking up that space and dissenting another person from being able to fill up their car.
I honestly do not know why this constantly happens to me. Every gas station I go to, there are few parking spots a few yards away from each pump for people who do not need gas to use. Why not just parking in one of those spots that is meant for the person at the gas station that does not need gas?
19. Another thing that bugs me is how I am 50% Cuban and 50% American. I can not speak spanish, but I can understand it pretty well. One thing that bugs me is how I took over 10 years of spanish courses throughout my elementary, middle, and high school career and still cant hold a conversation with someone in spanish.
Now while I can blame this all on my teachers throughout these 10 years of classes, I also have to put some of the blame on myself for not being determined to learn the language. While I should have a better understanding of the language and its root meanings, I think if my teachers had cared a little more, i would feel more comfortable with the language itself.
20. Another thing that bugs me is how some of the courses I took in high school were the exact same courses I am taking in college, and how these credits somehow do not transfer since it wasnt an "AP" credit. In some courses I am learning the same things I did 5 years ago and still am required to do it, even though Ive already completed this course.
I think that if these classes are offered by the High School, I believe they should be viable for some credits towards the university since a majority of the material was very similar, if not the same, to what is being taught in class. This could be a thing because they need to make sure students know the material before advancing, but I believe this is unnecessary since the students have already learned the material at one point in their educational career.

Trying to come up with this list of things that bug me was easy until about the 13th or 14th item. Only reason it was difficult I think was because I am trying to think of these things while sitting in my office at work. There isn't many things in this environment that bugs me, bug these little things mentioned above I have dealt with many times before. Making this list and going through each thing that bugs me has made me realize that these things are very minimal in importance in my life and I should not have to focus on these little negative things to bring myself down. If anything I should look at these things that "bug me" and learn from them.
